Helen (Hawkinson) Hanson's typewriter

Typewriter of Helen (Hawkinson) Hanson, Bill’s mother, while a social worker in Germany in 1949-50. Bet Ison, Bill’s sister, transcribed Helen’s letters and read them to her during Helen’s later years.

Helen’s parents saved her letters. With Alzheimer’s disease in her later life, Helen loved to listen to her daughter, Bet Ison, read these. Helen could remember and talk about them.
